It's that time of year again! The 2024 League of Legends Season 14 World Championship is just around the corner. This year's theme is "Make Them Believe."
Twenty top teams from around the world will begin their journey in Berlin, Germany, and battle their way to the final showdown in London, UK, where they will compete for the World Championship trophy. This year's tournament will follow the new format introduced last year, featuring the Play-In Stage, Swiss Stage, and Knockout Stage. The competition officially kicks off on September 25th.

《2024 League of Legends World Championship》 Format
The tournament will use Patch 14.18.
《Play-In Stage》
This year’s World Championship will once again use the new format introduced in 2023, though the number of participating teams has been reduced to 20. Riot Games has decided to include the third seeds from the LEC (Europe) and LCS (North America), along with the top two teams from the PCS (Pacific) and VCS (Vietnam), as well as the top seeds from LLA (Latin America) and CBLoL (Brazil) to the Play-In Stage. This makes for a total of eight teams in the Play-In, which will follow a double-elimination best-of-three (BO3) format. Four teams will advance to the Swiss Stage.
《Swiss Stage》
In addition to the four teams advancing from the Play-In Stage, twelve teams have been directly seeded into the Swiss Stage. These teams include the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational champion (Gen.G), three other teams from the LCK (Korea), four teams from the LPL (China), and the top two seeds from both the LEC (Europe) and LCS (North America). These 16 teams will compete for a spot in the quarterfinals.
The "same-region avoidance" rule will be in effect, and the first-round matchups will be determined by drawing lots. After the first round, teams with the same record will face each other (e.g., 1-0 teams will face other 1-0 teams, and 0-1 teams will face other 0-1 teams). A new rule introduced this year ensures that teams won’t face the same opponent more than once. When teams are on the verge of elimination or advancement, the matches will be played as BO3, while other matches will remain best-of-one (BO1). Teams need three wins to advance, and three losses will eliminate them, determining the eight teams for the Knockout Stage.
《Knockout Stage》
The Knockout Stage will follow the traditional best-of-five (BO5) single-elimination format, starting with the quarterfinals and culminating in the championship match on November 2nd. Seeding will be based on Swiss Stage performance: teams with a 3-0 record in the Swiss Stage will be the top two seeds, teams with a 3-1 record will be seeded 3rd through 5th, and teams with a 3-2 record will be seeded 6th through 8th.

The tournament will be held in Europe, starting on "September 25th", with the Grand Finals scheduled for "November 2nd". The tournament will be divided into three main stages:
Play-In Stage: September 25 to September 29, held at Riot Games Arena, Berlin, Germany.
Swiss Stage:October 3 to October 13, held at Riot Games Arena, Berlin, Germany.
Quarterfinals:October 17 to October 20, held at Adidas Arena, Paris, France.
Semifinals: October 26 to October 27, held at Adidas Arena, Paris, France.
